What We Believe

  • The South Carolina Study Center wholeheartedly affirms the inspiration and authority of Scripture. We believe the Bible is God’s word and wholly true in everything it affirms.
  • We are committed to the trinitarian faith expressed in the Apostles’ and Nicene Creeds. We believe these early summaries of Christianity are biblical and unifying for Christians still today.
  • Within this framework of basic Christian orthodoxy, we aim to cooperate with Christians of various traditions. Theologian Herman Bavinck summarizes well why Christians should seek unity wherever possible:

No Christianity exists above or beneath religious differences, but there is indeed a Christianity present amid religious differences. Because we tend to be most aware of the differences and schisms in Christianity, we constantly run the danger of disregarding this–nevertheless truly existing–unity. That which unites all true Christians is always more than that which separates them.
